You may be questioning yourself at the exact moment someone else is quietly impressed by your courage.
Self-doubt has a strange way of changing how we see our own actions. We remember every mistake, notice every hesitation, and focus on what could go wrong. Meanwhile, other people may see something completely different: someone who keeps showing up, makes difficult choices, and moves forward despite uncertainty.
That gap between how we see ourselves and how others see us can be surprisingly large.
You might think you are simply trying to survive a difficult season. Someone else might see your consistency. You may feel unprepared to speak, create, lead, or start again. They may see someone willing to do what most people keep postponing.
This matters because waiting to feel completely ready can quietly become a habit. There will almost always be another reason to hesitate. More knowledge to gain. More mistakes to avoid. More proof that you are capable.
But courage is rarely built after certainty arrives. It grows while you are still unsure.
The next time you question whether you are doing enough, pause before judging yourself. Look at what you have already done while carrying those doubts. You may discover that the version of yourself you consider weak is the same person someone else considers brave.
You do not need to feel fearless to move forward. Sometimes, you only need to stop underestimating the courage that is already there.
